Some of our students participated in the Otero Arts Festival. The festival has been going for 70 years. They have a writing, theater, instrumental/vocal, and visual arts contest. The contests are open to 7-12 grade students. Walsh 7th-10th English classes had eight students submit poetry entries to the Otero Arts Festival at Otero Junior College. Of the 8 submissions, 4 students placed. Addyson Yeager placed 2nd in the 7th-grade division with her poem, "Broken".
Brendon Sniff placed 1st in the 8th-grade division and won "Best Overall Work" in the Junior division for his poem "I'm NOT the Plot". Sophomores Avila'lee Twyffort and Douglas Hetrick placed 1st and 2nd, respectively, with their poems "Addiction" and "Love?" - We had 22 entries into the visual arts contest. Art pieces from junior high and high school. Gracelyn Tedder received 2nd place on her painting and Addy Yeager received honorable mention for her pencil drawing. Congratulations to all!

Today has been busy! This year the state conference needed more volunteers to help, so we had some of our students selected to help. Mrs. Mundell, Jocelyn, River, Aurora and I helped with judging yesterday and today. It makes it a bit more challenging to get pictures and post about our events. Everyone has presented their projects. Tonight is the banquet and fashion show. Avila will be participating in the fashion show. She will be wearing her dress she made. We are proud of our students and how well they have done this year! We will have more pictures to post later.
