Introducing Power 30 – A New Approach to Helping Students Succeed
Walsh School District is making a change to how we provide additional academic support for our students.
Beginning Wednesday, October 28th, we will be replacing our quarterly Bonus Friday remediation days with a new program called Power 30.
Power 30 will take place every Wednesday for 30 minutes immediately following the regular school day.
The purpose of this change is simple: We want to help students when they begin struggling, rather than waiting until they have fallen behind.
Instead of waiting until the end of a quarter to address missing assignments or academic difficulties, Power 30 will give teachers an opportunity each week to work with students who need additional help understanding concepts, completing assignments, or strengthening academic skills.
What Parents Need to Know
Teachers will contact parents when they believe their child would benefit from attending Power 30.
Students who are identified for additional assistance will be expected to attend.
Power 30 will be held on Wednesdays for 30 minutes after school.
We will work with families to address transportation needs.
The program will begin as a nine-week pilot, allowing us to evaluate its effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
We believe this change will allow us to provide more timely, meaningful academic assistance while helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful.
Our goal is not simply to help students get caught up. Our goal is to help them learn, understand, and succeed.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to improve student achievement at Walsh School District.
