Today, the 8th-grade life skills class visited the grocery store. On Monday, they answered kitchen safety, food, and cooking questions to earn shopping time. Four groups of three had to plan a meal for a family of four—the meal needed to have a main dish, side, and dessert. Once at the grocery store, each team had their shopping list and the timer was set to collect ingredients. Once each team finished shopping, items were added up for total cost of ingredients. The students were surprised at how much they spent. It was a good lesson to understand the grocery store's layout, how to shop on a budget, and reality check about food costs.

Eagles lead Kit Carson at halftime. 31-6.
We finished the week of 8th grade life skills with a bang. Jaxson made wings, Daniel fried tilapia, Grady baked sheet pan chicken and potatoes and Cheyenne put together dirt cake. The school hallway smelled of delicious food. It is funny how many visitors you get when food is involved. I am super proud of all my students. There were zero accidents and everyone cooked amazing food.

VB and FB this Friday in Kit Carson

The Eagle's Oven - This year the baking club is back in action. We hope you have enjoyed some of our baked goods at the concession stand. We started the year off making Focaccia bread. The next week we had a cookie test kitchen. Sopaipilla Cheesecake Cookie and Caramel Brown Butter were our two cookies that we sold first. Rice Krispies were next in our line of sales items. The class made monster cookies for the athletes, coaches, and managers to have on the way to Granada. Be on the lookout for new baked goodies at the next home game.

Today 8th Grade Lifeskills went back into the kitchen! It was Doug and Henry's day to cook. Henry made burgers and Doug baked lava cakes.
