Week of April 8th athletic updates.

Our first FCCLA State Competition is in the books. I am so proud of all my students. They worked hard and humored me and all the pictures. This was a learning experience for all of us. Now we know what to expect and how everything works. We didn't have any students qualify for Nationals this year. They take the top three in each category and score over 80 points. Jaylie and Reece - Silver, Ava and Averi - Silver, Maddox and Keely - Silver, Aurora - Silver, and she was recognized on stage, Audrey and Samuel- Silver, Susana - Bronze, Jocelyn - Bronze --- I am excited to take what I learned as an Advisor and help our student get back to state next year. Reece was selected as VP of Competitive Events and Averi was selected as VP of Membership for our Ark Valley Chapter - (Trinidad, Swink, Springfield, and Walsh)

Dinner and Fashion show tonight!!!

Our last competitor of the conference is Jocelyn. She is presenting her project in Focus on Children. She analyzed anxiety in students at the elementary and middle school level.

Susana is up with her Early Childhood Education project. Preschool Play incorporates games, music, and art while infusing her native language of Spanish into the curriculum. She has been working with our preschool students since January. Today she has to create a lesson plan from scratch based on a scenario she is given.

Maddox and Keely are getting ready to present their Food Innovation. Maddox and Keely created a snack bar for their project. The snack had restrictions for calories and nutritional value. They created the Rawr Bar. It is a peanut butter and chocolate snack bar with oats, sunflower kernels, mixed nuts, and honey.

Our next competitors are Ava and Averi. The title of their project is Live Like a Boss. They are competing in Nutrition and Wellness. They had to work with a participant for several weeks to assess their current health and wellness. Then they created a three-week meal and mental wellness plan for the participant. Once the three weeks concluded they had to interview their participant to see if the meal plan and mental wellness plan improved their overall wellbeing.

The FCCLA State Competition is taking place in downtown Denver. Last night we attended the opening session. The theme of this year's conference is Running on Rhythm. There are 964 students in attendance at this event and there are 45 different competitions. Students may only compete in one event. Throughout the entire conference, there are different workshops the students can participate in and learn new skills. Tonight there is a Fashion Show for students who competed in the Fashion events. This is followed by a dinner and some FCCLA awards.

Good Morning, First up today is Audrey and Samuel and their Tres Amigos Food Truck. They are competing in Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation. We will know results of all competitors tomorrow morning. Stay Tuned for more announcements.

The HS track meet at Holly this Saturday has been canceled

Next up is Aurora and her Habitat for Humanity project. Aurora had to design a living room and a bedroom for a family of three with ADA compliance furniture and room design. Helping Someone in Need --- The rest of our students will compete tomorrow.

Jaylie and Reece are up first at the FCCLA State Competition. They are competing in Public Policy Advocate. The title of their project is Fund Our Future to advocate for higher teacher pay.
