"The Boettcher Scholarship is a prestigious, merit-based scholarship program in Colorado that provides financial support and enrichment opportunities to high-potential graduating seniors, aiming to attract and retain Colorado's most dynamic thinkers, doers, and difference makers." On Thursday, a group of Mrs. Steinman's students traveled to La Junta to see their art work at the Otero Art Festival. The students were given the option to enter an art piece. The art festival is for 7th - 12th grades. Everyone did a fabulous job! The students enjoyed seeing other art created by students their own age. Avila placed 2nd on both of her entries.

Walsh Senior, Susana Pantoja, recently completed the certified nurse’s assistant (CNA) classes offered through Southeast Colorado Hospital. Susana spent about a month juggling these classes, her WHS schoolwork, and her part-time job at the Walsh Healthcare Center. She not only excelled at the CNA classes, but she never fell behind with her high school work—some of which were dual-credit college classes. Susana is a hard worker who keeps a positive attitude and always gives her best. We are so proud of you!

Ty Hoffman was recently one of ten students chosen to represent Baca County and Colorado 4-H at the Ignite 4-H conference in Washington D.C. While in Washington D.C., Ty attended numerous workshops. He listened to speakers who focused on areas such as agriscience, STEM, healthy living, and community engagement. The conference also featured a career fair and numerous networking opportunities. While at Ignite, he also participated in a National Monument tour, including the World War monuments, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. The Library of Congress, the White House, and the Museum of Natural History were also sites he visited. Congratulations, Ty!
